What is 5G technology?
Let us start with a question. What is 5G technology? 5G stands for 5th generation wireless networking technology. Response time is important and helps in online video gaming, online shopping and much more. The response time of 4G technology is approximately 45 milliseconds, whereas of 5G is 1 millisecond which is equals to blinking of an eye.
Working Principle of 5G:
5G network operates in the small geographical areas called cells, which are covered by service area providers. Analogue signals that represent sound and images are digitalized in the telephone, then they are converted by analogue to digital converter and transmitted as a stream of bits.
All 5G wireless devices in a cell communicates through radio waves with local antenna and low power automated transceiver. In one square kilometer, 5G network can support a million devices while 4G can only support 100,000 devices per square kilometer.
The International Telecommunication Union for Radio communication sector (ITU-R) has defined three major application areas for enhanced capabilities of 5G. These are
- Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB).
- Ultra-Reliable Low Latency Communications.
- Massive Machine Type Communications.
Applications of 5G Technology in healthcare:
The arrival of 5G networks with high bandwidth and lower latency will directly contribute to better diagnosis and faster treatments that will save lives.

Nokia is going to be higher in the demand in providing the network equipment and already secured a massive deal. So there is the first way Nokia stands against the 5G.
The second thing is that the Nokia holds the significant amount of IP related 5G technology. Now, Nokia says that they would charge a maximum of 3 Euros for a handset in royal ties for 5G. this would be a nicer amount of passive income.
Just think about how many 5G phones will get sold in the future which Nokia contact for each phone. As for stock, they are selling at a price of about 6 dollars. There are engineered negative incomes because they spend a lot in research and development for the 5G technology.
This should pay off in the future and already has come beyond where the other companies has spent less in the past few years. Nokia has risen the share price and therefore they have that yield which isn’t bad.
Next we need to look at a Swedish company that is providing 5G equipment globally. Sony Ericsson which is a networking and telecommunication company specifically provides infrastructure, services and software to the industry and other sectors. One of the main type of infrastructure Ericsson provides is 5G.
They are considered as the top 3 global providers of 5G networks. So, the companies like T-Mobile, Nokia and Ericsson provides their equipment worldwide. These equipment are in high demand.
Ericsson had to create around 300 jobs in the United States just to keep up with the growing demand of 5G equipment. Ericsson has signed 38 operators of 5G and they have partners such as QUALCOMM and INTEL for initial 5G launches. They have got a platform that they think make easy for operators to switch from 4G to 5G.
They have been building 5G radio systems since 2015. They really are early pioneers of this technology. They would have been first with live commercial networks in US, Europe, Australia and Asia. Today, Ericsson has public 5G contracts with more than any other big companies.
On the basis of yield structures of 1.38%, it is considered as one of the fastest growing 5G provider companies.
Qualcomm is an American semiconductor and telecommunication equipment company that designs and markets wireless telecommunication products and services. One of their products is the new 5G modem which has just been released. This is a Qualcomm snapdragon X55 5G modem. This machine has the download speed of 7 Gigabits per second and uploading speed of 3 Gigabits per second.
More and more companies tried to adopt 5G. Qualcomm can also sell its products in a small niche market.
Think of how many smartphones this chip could began and how many of this would be sold off. This is why Qualcomm seems to be working at the hearts of 5G, across all the aspects of 5G design and are front runners in developing the technology.
Qualcomm is selling its product in around 52 dollars which are sold in 75 dollars by other companies. This is the American company which is earning some positive profits.
Verizon is an American telecommunication business that offers wireless products and services. It is the largest wireless telecommunication provider in the US. They once were a company that provides 5G to the costumers at the top of the technology early on because they know the 5G will be in high demand with the technology and infrastructure.
That’s why they have invested a lot in their new plans. New plan called 5G ultra-wide band which hopes to offer costumers faster speed of internet.
Verizon is currently involved in lots of the cell sites which are needed for the 5G deployments. It will also covers 37.2 million miles of fiber optic cable for the foundation of 5G. Although this 5G plan has not yet been released.
They are investing a lot of money in 5G to shorter than they can be early adapter of offering costumers 5G. This is going to change the user experience using Verizon.
The question arises that is it going to change the Verizon’s income in the equipment because at the end of the day, Verizon is still be making money from 4G anyways. The CEO of Verizon says that 5G will add in more tiers of revenue.
For example, autonomous vehicles that will require 5G, healthcare exchange and more ways for making money for Verizon. As far as the selling products price is concerned the price is as same as Nokia. The PE ratio of Verizon is 14.74 and yields are 4.46%.
CISCO is an American technology company that develops, manufactures and sells networking hardware, telecommunicating equipment and other high technology services and other products which are obviously not include 5G.
As CISCO are looking to transform 5G networking which would make a critical and absolute path in 5G technology. It is believed that there will be 80% of mobile traffic is video in next few years. Obviously these videos would require 5G which runs better than 4G

Radiations from 5G technology and its effects on health:
5G for sure sounds like a promising new technology but some are concerned that it may have adverse health effects. In November 2018, there was a report published which suggested that in Netherlands, 300 birds have died due to 5G testing.
Forums are awash with activists suggesting the dangers of cellphone radiations are being suppressed. So, 5G actually have health effects or is it just a conspiracy theory that is getting a little but out of hand?
Why people are so much concerned about 5G? The answer is in one word “radiations”. All of our connected devices emit radiofrequency electromagnetic radiations of different wavelengths. Low frequency wavelengths are used to powering smartphones, televisions and computers.
This refers to as non-ionizing radiations. It is not considered strong enough to cause any health effects. On the other side of the spectrum, there are high frequency wavelengths such as ultraviolet radiations from the sun or X-rays.
This is the most powerful type of radiations and is known as ionizing radiations. It can rip electrons away from atoms and do some real damage to DNA.
And if we are exposed a lot to this type of radiations, it can introduce mutations to DNA causing the growth of diseases such as cancer.
Fortunately, 5G radiations are non-ionizing. Completely different from the radiations coming from the sun or the x-rays. So, why people are afraid? There are few important changes coming with 5G that ate concerned with negative health effects.
Firstly, it will be one millimeter wave technology and this uses high frequencies than 3G or 4G. This means that more base stations are needed and more antennas to ensure covering the same ground.
Human skin is very effective barrier against bacteria, viruses and even weather. Ionizing radiations such as UV from the sun can penetrate the skin, whereas radio waves actually penetrate the skin without doing any damage at all.
5G radiations fell smack in the middle. They only barely penetrate the skin and they don’t have enough energy required to damage DNA.
Many critics of 5G technology point towards WHO (World Health Organization) that cellphone radiations could cause cancer. They are suggesting that cellphone radiations should be considered as carcinogenic. There is a large number of data on research and development on negative health effects of 5G.
There is no direct link between 5G radiations and its negative health effects. This is because the wavelengths of 5G has been used in scanners and radars at the airports for a longer period of time.
